Es ist Zeit weiter zu ziehen. Nachdem ich bei der Ankunft den Airport-Express genommen habe, habe ich für die Anreise zum Flughafen das Taxi genommen. Das ist eigentlich viel teurer und langsamer als der Zug, aber morgens um 4 zum Bahnhof zu laufen, oder dann hierzu auch ein Taxi zu nehmen … Am Vortag kam eine Mail von der LH, das man doch aufgrund des hohen Aufkommens früher da sein soll (kurzer Google research kam zum gleichen Ergebnis). Angekommen hab ich doch gestaunt wieviel hier morgens um halb fünf schon los ist. Gut das ich hier den Fast-Track nehmen konnte, das hat mir viel Zeit gespart. Ein klein wenig davon ging allerdings beim Scannen meiner Elektronik wieder drauf. Die haben meine ganzen kleinen Verstaulösungen ausgeräumt und nochmals durchlaufen lassen (und es gibt leider nur wenig Platz um das ganze wieder einzuräumen). Der Airport selbst wird gerade wohl sehr umgebaut (man läuft an langen verbarrikadierten wegen entlang). Die meisten laden hatten noch nicht offen und vor denen die offen hatten (Getränke und Essen) bildeten sich riesige Schlangen. Lucky me das ich in die SAS Lounge kann (wenn ich sie den finde).
Very modern, clean, large, somewhat spooky, many empty and unused desert areas!
One of the worst and oldest airports ever been to. Though JFK would always remain the worst on my list.The tech used in terminals comes from when the dinosaurs walked the land. The way security check is set up would cause lines on the stairs which is awful planning.Thank god it doesn’t have the JFK’s trademark - smelling like piss, otherwise I’d get a job in google and invent negative star reviews.
I am traveling with my elderly mother who needs assistance. And every time I am very grateful for the help we get. There was one time that we waited far too long for the assistance, but I think it was because we ourselves did not understand and put ourselves in the wrong place and were difficult to find.
The airport experience is good, in general. There are a few perks about this place, though.As other users comment, if you are used to the 1 liter bag for your liquids, they ask for a smaller one here.Although the airport is well maintained (more or less), I could not help but notice a funny smell in the corridor (maybe coming from a nearby loo).Also, the bathrooms need better cleaning.
Let me provide a detailed review on multiple aspects of this airport as I have been here for more than 60 times (considering departure and arrival):Travel to airport (from Stockholm): This is where it gets high score. You can travel by Arlanda Express (expensive), Flyggbussarna (Affordable) or SL (Cheap). High frequency & good service.Check-in: If you do online, there’s enough self baggage drop (for inter-europe) in counters considering the density.For inter continental, it’s based on crew of airline & they’re generally good.Security gate: I know that this is where it needs to get strict, but staff can be polite towards people. Each time each person has a different rule when it comes to liquid & different for different people.Navigation: Signboards are there but still creates confusion for lot of people ( I know it a bit well; so excluding personal bias). Escalator connecting Terminal 4 & Terminal 5 doesn’t work at times!Shops & restaurants: Sufficient for number of passengers it handles.Baggage service: This is the main reason why I gave 2 despite giving positive for most. This is terrible based on multiple trips. Due to covid there were low staffs which was acceptable, but in 2023 summer, it’s still terrible. I read passengers waited until 2 AM on a day! In my case, there was no electricity at the terminal gate. Despite that the plane was positioned there. Engine was on for a while & still no electricity. But the pilot decide to turn off & let us out. Now the baggage belt was at the opposite end of where her gate is. So imagine 200 odd people walking in opposite direction & creating congestion (just my flight). Waited 1.5 hours for the bag. No announcement by airport team. A message by Lufthansa was played (baggage is not handled by them). Now the departure plane is delayed; it was the same in my case when I flew from Sweden. It’s just one of my case as example.Also I am writing this review while waiting for my baggage! 🫥
Good food options, bad security process. It was so messy. I was taking a flight to JFK and it was chaotic. We had to go through passport control, then in a second line they asked us questions, then in a third line they checked our boarding pass and passport again. They didn’t have any signage to make it clear. You couldn’t go through certain lines if you checked in online. Randomly, Delta 1 people skipped in front of the second passport line. I’m fine with people paying more for things like that, but it was a very unorganized process.
We were at the airport Terminal 5 on the 21st May 2023 (Saturday).It's a very busy airport, and the facilities need to be expanded to handle the no. of travelers .It took a while to pass through the security check, and the waiting area to board the plane is small to handle arrival and departure. You should consider coming to the airport 3 hours earlier before your flight.The tax rebate counters are not clearly specified, and clear signed boards should be used. It's important that you have the items on hand when you claim for tax rebate, and they will check each item against receipt. No item = No Tax Rebate🤑😵💫😢
Clean, spacious, good food, happy service personnel, good weather, ... What more do you need?Big plus was a restaurant which offered excellent quality food at reasonable (airport) prices and managed to provide an atmosphere of calm in an otherwise hectic airport.We only used the airport for transit, but our 7-month-old thoroughly enjoyed the children's playground.
It's one of my favourite airports. The design is very typical of Scandinavian, simplistic but very charming. It contains all the modern standards of a world class airport. Easier access of transportation and good seating arrangement.
Only saw the internal transfer section from one gate to another, under going a refurbishment so as a result it was a little noisy and the queues were longer than normal. Remember this is an entry point to the EU if you have come from outside so ensure you have the right paperwork and do not bring in some foods eg cooked meets.
The design is very typical of Scandinavian, simplistic but very charming. I stayed at the Radisson Blu Airport Hotel, which offers a complementary shuttle service from/to airport terminals 3-4 times an hour through the day. It’s very convenient. There are subways and shuttles going to downtown area with a very reasonable price. The airport is well organized and managed 👍👍 You can also buy a local SIM card for mobile data and phone connection. Very handy! Cheers!
One of the nicest airports I've been at. The directions are clear and all areas well laid out. Most of the airport staff are attentive and helpful especially since I didn't speak the language. You are able to book tickets at the airport,although for me they were at higher prices than the ones available online. The airport has free guest WiFi and this was really helpful.
Overall, Stockholm Atlanta Airport is a great international airport overall. It’s all pretty organized and very clean in general. I will say they like to have waiting lines, whenever possible. You wait in a small line to get to the escalator. Then in line at the ticket desk. Then again at security. Then customs, then again at the gate (more security) with a possibility of additional “random” checks.
I recently used the T 5 and it was good. Staffs were courteous and helpful. They were guiding the passengers clearly with the procedure like self checkin and self baggage drop. There are plenty of food sign boards to walk around without issues. Play area for kids are really good because kids gets cranky sometimes and they always need a play area.
Vegetarians might want to pass on this one. The smell of bbqed meat will hot you hard as soon as you enter the door.The menu does have a porto bello option, but different types of meat is the main focus here. Pick a protein and one or more sides. Fries aren’t an option.I went for the pulled pork, coleslaw and cornbread. The meat was delicious, the coleslaw fine and the bread was muffin like in shape and taste.The setting is a bit boring, heavily influenced by an imagined Texas style. Works well for a place like this.I was also pleasantly surprised by the price. For a niche place like this I expected to pay more.

Quite a large airport, good signage, easy to find the way to the different terminals and with plenty of shops. Easy to catch the Express trains to Stockholm city (ground floor). It is also possible to take direct trains to a few nearby cities. It is possible to purchase the train tickets on arrival, when collecting the luggage. Staff at the information desk were very friendly and helpful.
Good, but could be better. Good tap water, so no worries about buy expensive water in bottles. But in general this airport was crowded and lacking places to rest and sit. Security was slow. A lot of places to eat but all were expensive (what is normal in an airport, I guess) but also with very bad reviews. As I was traveling with my pregnant friend it seems to risky to eat at those places. At around 9pm many of those places were closed. As for my pregnant friend this airport wasn't that comfortable - uncomfortable toilets placement, some seating areas too cold and dirty. And as I understood terminal 5 is under construction. So, this airport is good, but hopefully it will get better.
Very good organised airport. Departures are less stressful and there are cafeterias and restrooms everywhere. Specially what I like is smoke places inside airport with good ventilation which made my trip more enjoyable. Man who worked in check in was very pleasant and whole stuff were kind. 5 Stars!
