The New Big Tree Beach Resort

Im Big Tree (damals noch ohne New) war ich schon vor 5 Jahren 2-3 mal. Es ist zum einen recht günstig (vor allem in der Saison) und liegt sehr gut gelegen um mit einem TukTuk überall hinzukommen. Es ist inzwischen unter neuem Management. Dies hat einerseits sehr viel unternommen. Es gibt jetzt eine Cocktailbar, eine Grillstation, moderne Toiletten, eine Kite-Schule und öfters Entertainment. Dies lockt auch sehr viele Gäste von anderen Hotels an. Allerdings hat man bei den Zimmern nichts unternommen. So werden diese immer noch mit einem Vorhängeschloss gesichert!!! Die Ausstattung ist karg (man könnte auch sagen, nicht vorhanden). Es gibt kein Süsswasser, es müsste ja keine Trinkwasser sein, aber beim duschen nervt das Salzwasser schon. Zudem kam aus der Dusche nur aus ein paar Düsen Wasser, was beim abduschen der Seife zu ewigem Duschen führt. Wenn man es hinbekommt, jede Woche einen Tanklaster vorfahren zu lassen um damit 2 Pools für eine Schaumparty zu füllen …

We went 1700km across East Africa and this was the worst restaurant we have been the entire journey. Incompetent Waitress. Mediocre drinks we got them 20min apart from each other. Also all 3 drinks were not good and we didn't finish them. 2/4 Items we would have ordered from the menu were not available. Fish and veggies bland. Chicken dry and chips cold. But worst was this place and esp. the waitress doesn't care. First review on goggle btw. If it wouldn't have been really bad I wouldn't have taken the time to review.

This is an absolute great place to stay amazing pizza which is buy one get one free on a Wednesday super great value . Also the pancakes are superb; they are freshly there then absolutely amazing every time I come to mombasa I stay here. The new co-owner, walter, he is extremely helpful and always available. He always super friendly reliable and kind. Each and every members of stuff here have always a smile in their face, work really hard and give you great service. Also the place has a lot of entertainment and it's so much fun to be here. It's located right in front of the sea and every morning when i wake I have an instant view of the sea, super relaxing.

Food is expensive but the quantity is way less. However, the music and live band entertainment is great

Big tree has really changed.They offer a brand new menu which is goodAlthough the service is VERY slow.They literally have none of the things in the menu; and they take 20 to get you one drink.The ambiance is fun but it gets really annoying waiting for a drink.
