Monkey Pod

Das Monkey Pod liegt hier quasi um die Ecke (wobei ich in diese Richtung bisher so gut wie nie gelaufen bin). Die Location liegt direkt an einer viel befahrenen Straße. Davon merkt man allerdings recht wenig, da es zum einen von einer Mauer umgeben ist und auch noch recht dicht bepflanzt ist. Die Bepflanzung birgt aber bereits den ersten Nachteil, es gibt Moskitos 🙁 Dafür stehen dann auf den Tischen auch direkt Anti-Moskitos-Sprays (die sogar helfen). Das ganze ist eher eine Lounge Bar mit chilliger Musik als ein Restaurant (nennt sich auch eher Tapas Bar). Mit den Tapas kommt schon das nächste Problem, die sind für Tapas eigentlich zu groß. Aber gut, ich hatte Schicken-Caramel und zum Hauptgang einen ganzen Tintenfisch. Das Chicken war wie gesagt eigentlich zu viel. Dafür war der Tintenfisch eher zu klein, bzw. unmariniert gegrillt, ok dies Soßen waren lecker. Wie gesagt das essen ist für eine Bar eigentlich gut, aber für ein Restaurant ist es etwas zu wenig.

I was in search of authentic Thai Cuisine and this restaurant was very near to my hotel. I wasn't very hungry for dinner but, still all the dishes we ordered tasted so good. We ordered Chicken green curry with thai paste; oh my God it tasted so amazingly good. Then we ordered Grilled Sea bass with thai herbs; this one also tasted very good and came with a papaya salad which was so refreshing and ordered some drinks. My family of four, we all sat outside coz the inside dinning was reserved. The atmosphere was very good with soft music and the staff service touched my heart, so good human beings. But one thing I didnot like was mosquitoes. Except this I was very happy and satisfied.

The food is more upscale than the local Thai restaurant, the chicken is soft and good. It costs about 1600 baht for two people to eat, so the price range is reasonable, but the restaurant interior and table cleanliness do not match this price. Even if you go to the hotel restaurant and eat at this price range, it was regrettable that there was no reason to pay that money to eat here. It's nice, but if you want to go, go to a famous hotel restaurant rather than here.

Customer Service has major room for improvement.Happy Hour … buy one get one free… and suddenly they said buy 2 get one freeThe restaurant was very empty and we ordered two dishes. The first one came after 20 minutes. After 30 minutes we asked for the second dish and they said… oh, we will check. How can they forget the second dish?Food was not great. Payment with credit card also not. They tried to convert to Euro and then get double currency exchange fee.There are much better places in the area.

Just had wonderful meal at Monkey Pod. Nice chilled oasis in all madness, service was very friendly and approachable. The food was delicious and fresh, on the more costly side perhaps but that is subjective... Side note they had Savanna on the menu which took me right back home. Lekker bru!

Great restaurant, with a great layout and amazing food (like a tapas vibe and selection). The background music was excellent and the owner came out and asked what we thought of the place.The drinks were made at the outdoor bar and were top notch. I wanted to keep ordering, but was pleasantly full. Definitely will return and would highly recommend.

Walked in, thought it was a very nice place to eat.Really nice waitress asked me what do I want to drink, I ordered and asked to her to be back soon for the food order.After half an hour of waiting, I saw they all look very busy, I paid for my drink and left the place.

Pretty impressive menu in it's simplicity. We absolutely loved the bowls (they were fresh, full of flavor - big bonus for adding dill to them!) and deserts were just amazing. Service is fantastic, and place is beautiful. Such a hidden gem on soi 13. And they accept dogs!
